Today I finished designing my classroom website using Dreamweaver. This is not the website I will use in my future classroom, but it gave me some experience in creating a classroom website that I will be able to use. I also started creating my final lesson plan, which is going to be a unit on hurricanes using different types of  technology. I really like the unit and think this is one I would teach in the future. I might have to adapt it a little, but I chose the types of technology that I thought would most likely be available to me in my future classroom.
This is our last  class and I think that I gained a lot of knowledge in how to use and apply technology in the classroom. I would definitely take another technology course if time and money allowed, because I believe that the use of technology in the classroom is going to keep increasing in the future.

Today we started building our own website and I decided to make a classroom website for my future classroom. I found the experience of learning how to build a website in Dreamweaver to be useful as a future teacher. I am excited to build a real website when the I have my own classroom and feel as if I gained valuable insight into to what makes a good website. I hopefully will not need as much assistance as I did this time around. I think that when I do design my own website for my classroom that I will use a website that provides a template and formats it a little easier than Dreamweaver.

Today we learned about designing a web-site, so that we can design our own web-site for our final project.
I am excited to design my website, because I intend on designing a classroom web-site that I can use in my future classroom. I encountered some difficulty in accessing and using a few sample web-sites that help you design your own web-site, so I hope that the process of using Dreamweaver to design my web-site will prove to be easier and less frustrating.

Today we created a lesson plan that integrated the use of an IPod Touch. We created a lesson plan that involved the students using a Spanish lesson application on the IPod Touch. I think that out of all the ways we have learned how to use technology in the classroom this particular way is one that I would use the least. I think that  unless I worked in a private school that I would not have access to enough IPod Touches for all students if any at all. I have not seen them in any of the schools that I have volunteered at, however I do think that it is good that I learned how they could be used in the classroom and that there are many applications and ways that they could be integrated into lessons.

Today we learned about podcasts and their educational value in the classroom. I had never watched a podcast before and found them to be a valuable tool that I can use as a future teacher. I think that there are many podcasts out there that I could use as well as making my own for the classroom. We learned how to make our own podcast and mine is going to be on the lifecycle of a butterfly. We are taking pictures from the internet and displaying them in our podcast and then speaking about our topic and inserting music to play in the background. I am excited to see mine when it is finished! Hopefully it will be something that I can actually use in my future classroom.

Today we looked at web-sites and determined how to tell if they are valid or not. I found this to be very interesting and a useful skill to have as a future teacher. I will definitely teach my students the different ways you can detect if a web-site is valid or not. It will also be valueable to be as a teacher, because it will be important to be using valid web-sites as resources when creating lesson plans or using web-sites in the classroom. We also finished our I-Movies, but unfortunately we are experiencing technical difficulties converting ours to quicktime. Hopefully we can figure it out, so we can watch the finished product!

Week 4 in the journey-
Today we learned how to use Google Earth. We learned how to navigate Google Earth to find locations and create our own personal tour of locations. The tour I created was of the five highest peaks in Oregon, which is near and dear to my heart, because I love the mountains. I think that it is very important that students know how to use maps and that students would be very excited to use Google Earth to create their own personal tour of locations. I think maps can be integrated into almost any content area and that Google Earth is something I will most definitely incorporate into a lesson if not more than one in my classroom.
